Fencing for Wandin Farms, Orchards and Acreage
Wandin has a long association with orchards, berries and other forms of horticulture. Post and wire fencing remains one of the most versatile choices for rural properties. For cattle, strong construction and effective bracing are essential, particularly around gateways, corners and high-pressure areas. Sheep and alpacas are commonly contained using appropriately selected rural mesh, while goats often require closer attention to fence height, mesh openings and possible electric offsets. Donkeys, ponies and pigs each have their own behaviours, so the best fencing arrangement depends on the animals being contained and how the property is managed.
We can also build practical enclosures for chickens, ducks, geese and other poultry. These may require smaller mesh openings, secure gates and fencing that extends close to ground level. Where foxes or other predators are a concern, additional mesh or electric protection may be considered as part of the overall design.

Electric fencing can be particularly useful for rotational or strip grazing, temporary paddocks and reinforcing existing fences. However, the performance of an electric fence depends on more than simply attaching a hot wire. The energiser needs to suit the length and type of fence, the earthing system must be effective, vegetation contact needs to be managed and the conductors and insulators must be installed correctly.

Rabbit, Kangaroo and Wildlife Exclusion Fencing
Rabbits, kangaroos and wallabies can cause considerable damage to pasture, gardens, orchards and young plantings throughout the Yarra Valley. Depending on the level of wildlife pressure and the area being protected, we can install rabbit-proof fencing, kangaroo and wallaby exclusion fencing, or combined fencing systems intended to address more than one animal.
Rabbit-proof fencing generally requires suitable small-aperture mesh and careful treatment at ground level. Kangaroo and wallaby exclusion fencing normally requires a substantially taller and stronger design. In areas affected by wombats, the likelihood of animals pushing beneath or damaging a fence also needs to be considered. No wildlife fence is automatically suitable for every block, so we assess the terrain, existing animal movement and the purpose of the enclosure before recommending a solution.
Rural Gates, Repairs and Fence Replacements
A rural fence is only as practical as its gateways. We install farm gates, paddock gates and larger access gates suited to livestock, vehicles and machinery. Gateposts and adjoining fence assemblies need to be properly braced so that gates remain functional and the surrounding fence retains its tension.
We also undertake rural fence repairs and complete replacements. This may involve restraining loose wire, replacing damaged posts, adding bracing, repairing livestock mesh, upgrading gates or replacing a fence that has reached the end of its useful life.
